I spent a few minutes Facebook chatting with an old and very dear friend who lives a fair distance away and whom I see much less frequently than I would like. This brief "conversation" has me missing him like crazy! We grew up together as next door neighbours. We have definitely seen each other through some tough times and have always been there for each other whenever necessary. The funny part is, it wasn't until tonight that I realized just how long we have been a part of each other lives.
I was basically born in the house that my parents currently live in (we moved in when I was 5 months old) and about 7 years later our new neighbours moved in. I became instant friends with their daughter, who is a couple of years older than me, and their eldest son was just simply always around. He was like my younger brother when we were kids. Once we reached teenaged we spent less time together, but would often run into each other as we were arriving home and sit and chat for a good long time. In our early 20's when we were both home alone, it was not unusual for us to spend several hours together in the evenings. We would both have to get up for work in the morning and wouldn't be interested in going out but were more than happy to just hang out with the other person. This is what I miss most! We would talk about everything and anything. We shared our hopes and dreams with each other. Many of his have come true, as have some of mine. We share these things too during the momentous occasions in our lives and on the rare occasion that we get to see each other.
Tonight he is coming into Ottawa as part of his job...he's living his dream! and I find myself wanting to sit down and catch up with him...just the two of us! He says that there might be a few spare minutes tomorrow and I am looking forward to the possibility :)
Otherwise, I have suggested that we meet somewhere between here and where he lives and literally just hang out for the day! I miss doing nothing with him ♥
Only time will tell what's in store for tomorrow, I'm just hoping that it is some time with one of my favourite guys!
